Kathleen M. Sweet

Ms. Sweet is a 1987 graduate of Boston College where she was the Big East Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. She graduated from the Villanova University Law School in 1990. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New York, Ms. Sweet is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association, the Western New York Defense Trial Lawyers Association and the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York. She is the regional coordinator for JALBCA (Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert) and serves on the Liaison Committee for the Medical Society of the County of Erie.

Ms. Sweet is a partner and is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully defended numerous medical malpractice cases to verdict. In addition to representing individual health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and nurse midwives, she serves on the firm's team of litigators representing the largest health care system in Western New York. A former confidential law assistant at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department, Ms. Sweet handles several appeals each year. She has also developed a practice area representing and defending physicians who are subject to professional discipline at the institutional level and with respect to state agency actions against their license to practice.
