Ford’s Second Annual Legal Alliance for Women (L.A.W.) Global Day of Service

September 26, 2019

As part of Ford’s Second Annual Legal Alliance for Women (L.A.W.) Global Day of Service held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, employees and attorneys at Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, LLP spent their morning volunteering at the Family Justice Center of Erie County at their Orchard Park satellite office.  As part of this morning, the team got to learn about all of the great and invaluable work which is done every day by the Family Justice Center of Erie County to help protect victims of domestic violence and their children.  The mission of the Family Justice Center is to deliver comprehensive client services, at no cost, to address offender accountability, safety, healing and prevention and to enable clients and their children to break the cycle and live free from domestic violence.  Since its opening in 2006, the Family Justice Center has helped thousands of clients in Erie County.

The team worked on cleaning up the exterior, putting a fresh coat of paint on the interior doors, building new furniture and tidying up the child’s play area and kitchen pantry. Throughout the month of September, the entire firm also ran a drive to collect requested food, toiletries, cosmetics, gift cards and updated furniture pieces!  The drive was aimed at helping to support the clients relying on the Family Justice Center.

Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, LLP was proud to be part of Ford’s Global Day of Service. We joined 90 other law firms in eight countries as we all gave back to our respective communities through community service projects.  It was a humbling and rewarding morning that the Ford team members at Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, LLP will take with them in the future!
