Practice Area

Mr. Spitler’s practice includes the defense of medical practice cases, casualty and negligence claims, nursing home negligence and life insurance issues. Mr. Spitler’s practice has a specific emphasis on the defense of physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers.

Education/Experience

Mr. Spitler is a graduate of Canisius College, where he graduated cum laude, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was a recipient of the Shaheen Fellowship. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Western and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Spitler is a member of the State of New York Bar Association and Bar Association of Erie County and has served on the Bar Association of Erie County’s Judiciary Committee.

Mr. Spitler was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2010.

He has also been included in the Best Lawyers in America publications for many years and was chosen as a “Lawyer of the Year for Professional Malpractice Defense” in 2013 and 2017.  Additionally, he has been included in SuperLawyers as a top attorney in Personal Injury – Medical Malpractice Defense.

Mr. Spitler has been an instructor for the Advanced Trial Advocacy class at the University of Notre Dame Law School.  He has also acted as a Judge for the National Trial Advocacy Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Community Involvement

Mr. Spitler has been an instructor at the Advanced Trial Advocacy class at the University of Notre Dame Law School. He has also acted as a Judge for the National Trial Advocacy Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers.
